How To: Blind Installation
Roller Blinds Installation instructions
Promoblinds are simple to install, however if you prefer, Promoblinds provide comprehensive roller blinds installation services throughout Australia. Please contact PromoBlinds if you require assistance with installing blinds is required.
For best results, roller blind installation is a two person job. One person can do it alone, but a helper can stand back and act as a spotter for you and hold the blind in place while you are marking for the pilot holes.
Promoblinds also come with a child safety bracket for holding the cord against the wall and out of the reach of small children. In Australia, installation of this bracket is required by law.
Before you start blinds installation make sure you have the following;
- Power drill
- Appropriate drill bit
- Phillips screw driver
- A pencil
- Plasterboard anchors (if you are going to be screwing into plasterboard, you will need to first install plasterboard anchors and then insert your screws into them)
How To: Roller Blind Installation
- Start by inspecting your brackets and the ends of your blind. You will see that one bracket has a circular hole and the other has a rectangular slot. The blind has a corresponding circular pin on one side and a rectangular tab on the other. The rectangular side is the spring side.
- Determine where on the wall/frame you want the roller blinds installation. During the design process you will have selected the Face Mount or Recess option; the blind will have been fabricated accordingly.
- Mark the where your pilot holes will be. Place the rectangular slotted bracket against the wall where you want it to go and use a pencil to mark where you will be inserting the screws that have been supplied with your blind.
- Drill pilot holes for timber screws or appropriate sized holes for your plasterboard anchors.
- Screw the bracket into place. If you are using anchors, you will need to gently tap them into the plasterboard first.
- Determine location of second bracket. Insert the roller blind into the fixed bracket and hold it in place while you position the other bracket. Ensure that the blind is parallel with the top of the window frame. You may need a second person for this depending on the size of the blind. Check that the ACMEDA logo on the chain end cap of the roller is in the 6 o’clock position.
- Mark where your pilot holes will be.
- Drill pilot holes for timber screws or appropriate sized holes for your plasterboard anchors.
- Screw the second bracket into place. If you are using anchors, you will need to gently tap them into the plasterboard first.
- Insert the roller blind, rectangular end first into the bracket. Once in place, rotate the clear plastic disc at the other end to retract the pin, place the blind into the round bracket and release the pin by rotating the clear plastic disc in the opposite direction.
- Attached the bracket cover caps.
- Attach the chain safety bracket. Allow the chain to drop to its natural height, secure safety bracket to the wall or frame using the screw supplied.
- Test the blind by lowering and raising it a couple of times.
